The Excel Academy was established in 2000 in response to a need for training in disability services for Excel Society staff and external organizations. Our first program offering was the Community Support Worker certificate program, with the Health Care Aide certificate program following in 2008. In addition, we recognized the necessity for professional development training for care providers, management, volunteers and any interested persons by instituting a number of courses designed to meet the ever changing demands of the human services field.

Over the past 18 years, our certificate program portfolio has grown to include Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition (PLAR) for the HCA program, full time day and full time evening HCA programs as well as two online blended HCA program offerings. We continue to provide many professional development courses that are consistently evaluated to ensure they meet the current standards, requirements and needs of the human services sector. We are a member in good standing of the Alberta Association of Career Colleges and the National Association of Career Colleges, and are licensed under Alberta’s Private Vocational Training Act. The wheelchair-accessible Excel Academy is a division of the Excel Society, one of Edmonton’s leading non-profit organizations. For more information about the Excel Society, follow the link below.
